Talk about wanting to have your cake AND eat it. Cardiff are pushing for the right to play in the UEFA cup by virtue of winning the FA Cup (if they do…) which they technically can’t do as they are a Welsh club and so cannot take an English UEFA cup berth. They plead that they compete in the English league and so should be able to take their rightful place in the event of a win.
Fair enough, you might say. However, now the Welsh sports minister is saying it would be awful if the Welsh National Anthem wasn’t played at Wembley alongside the English National Anthem when the final takes place.
So what’s it to be Wales? They don’t sit together in my mind…
